Rhythm Session (Brockout)

Rhythm Session is the DJ alias of Brockout co-landlords Ed Brockout and Markutz. An old friendship forged amid the haze of the free party underground and early Bloc weekends, Ed and Mark connected over a mutual passion for techno and hip-hop (and a soft spot for the hard house, trance, and hardcore that dominated Westcountry nightlife in the late '90s and early'00s).

Influenced by the classic sounds of Detroit, Chicago and the UK, Rhythm Session sets journey through the realms of techno, acid, electro and ghettotech. Raw, hypnotic, jacking and ecstatic machine music for the heads and the soles.

Their Brockout parties have bounced between Exeter, Bristol and London since 2008, hosting the likes of DJ Funk, DJ Godfather, DJ Spinn, Jerome Hill, Benjamin Damage, Luke's Anger, Ben Pest, Fear-E, D.A.V.E The Drummer, Jon Convex, Second Storey, Dez Williams, Sam Binga, Warlock, Time To Rush, Michael Forshaw, Chrissy Murderbot, Girl Unit, Royal-T, The DJ Producer, Fast Forward Productions, Blackmass Plastics, Shadesy, Rowland The Bastard, Ribbz, P-Hocto, Mustard Gunn, and many more. On April 10th they welcome UK techno king Mark Broom to Exeter, alongside Belfast's finest Nez.

Brockout's record label launched in 2025 with a v/a vinyl release featuring Luke's Anger, Jerome Hill, Warlock and The Horn, followed by a Fear-E solo EP.
